Emotional Flashbacks – Due to Complex Trauma ~ Lilly Hope LucarioJune 22, 2016 by Healing From Complex Trauma & PTSD/CPTSD
|
Complex trauma is ongoing or repeated interpersonal trauma (abuse), within a captivity situation, where the victim perceives no viable means to escape.
Most ongoing child abuse, is complex trauma. The child is vulnerable, at the mercy of the caregivers, and unable to escape. Other examples where complex trauma can occur are sex trafficking, prisoner of war, severe domestic violence.
Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, can result from enduring complex trauma.
Complex PTSD has specific symptoms, that are not listed within the diagnostic criterion for (Uncomplicated) Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
These specific symptoms, are deep and pervasive issues with trust, abandonment, emotion regulation, isolation and many more.
One of the most common symptoms, and the hardest to understand and recognise, are emotional flashbacks. These are where emotions from the past, are triggered by something occurring now. These emotional flashbacks, do not have a visual aspect to them like flashbacks many PTSD sufferers experience. When there is something visual, it is far easier to understand, this is a flashback.

Coping With PTSD Is BAD For You!
[3 Things To Do Instead]
So, why is coping with PTSD so bad for you?
It really comes down to 3 things...
1). When you cope you stagnate...
2). It strengthens your believe that recovery is impossible...
3). You actually regress and get worse...
Does this make sense?
It's not your fault if you were taught to just cope with your PTSD...
Yesterday I read something that shocked me and made my heart sink...
It's a story from one of our support group members...
Here's what she said...
-------
"I gotta say my knowledge of PTSD was very limited until I was diagnosed last year. Seriously almost fell out of the chair at the doctors office! My response was “like a vet?”! When I returned with my daughter for the next appointment because I was at a severe crisis state I asked will I ever get over this...... I won’t ever forget the doctor looking at my daughter...... then saying
“No, you will always have this injury. But you can learn ways to cope.” Since then I have read a lot on the subject and am floored at all the information. There really needs to be a campaign for awareness to educate. With knowledge comes compassion."
-------
Yup, you heard that right, a doctor said that... Someone who is supposed to be a beacon of hope and support... In our current society we think that doctors and PHD's have godlike superhuman powers... We think that they know everything (and a lot of them think they do too), and most of us just take their word at face value. This. This is why most people can't and won't recover from PTSD... Because they are told the lie that they have to just cope with PTSD for the rest of their lives... And when someone believes that all they can do is cope... Guess what they do? Just cope.
They don't recover, they don't heal, and they don't put in the necessary effort to push through the pain and win. I'm sharing this with you right now to open your eyes. You need to start living your life with a strong internal compass. Believe in yourself, believe in your abilities, and believe that you can do absolutely anything. Elon Musk, the owner of SpaceX, launched a car into space and is planning to bring people to Mars... Anything is possible. Don't let anyone ever tell you that you can't do something.
You can recover, and you can live a life without PTSD. Keep moving forward, keep learning, and keep pushing yourself to improve.
If you do this nothing will stop you. Did you find this valuable? If so, I have good news! I put together a free training showing you exactly how I made the the transformation from completely broken with PTSD to living the life of my dreams!!! And... How I saved my relationships, my health, and my life.
More importantly… I show you how you can do the same even faster than I did by applying lessons I learned from my journey.

I saw this post and thought it was good knowledge about Allodynia.
For anyone who is trying to understand what I am going through right now or is possibly going through this and cant put a name to this ugly face: Allodynia is a rare type of pain, generally on the skin, that's caused by something that wouldn't normally cause pain. This pain type is frequently associated with fibromyalgia. Allodynia is thought to be a hypersensitive reaction to stimuli. Pain signals of allodynia come from specialized nerves called nociceptor, they react immediately based on what they detect. When these nerves become sensitized, they start interpreting all kinds of sensations as intense pain. This can include clothing pressing against the skin, a hug, drying off with a towel or from minor temperature changes. Just know, I am in pain. My clothes hurt my body. My bed hurts my skin. I cant put lotion on. I cannot move too quickly. This is real pain. I don't want you to pretend to flick me or hit me or squeeze me tightly. For anyone who has ever had unexplained pain like this, I hope this helps you understand what you're going through, and its very real. |
FIBRO FACTS:
💟 The month of May is fibromyalgia awareness month 💟 May 12th is officially designated as fibromyalgia awareness day, in honor of Florence Nightingale, because May 12th is her birthday. 💟 Florence Nightingale was a nurse who served in the Crimean war. While providing medical care to soldiers wounded in battle, Florence Nightingale revolutionized the medical care and sanitation of soldiers wounded on the battlefield. This led to less soldiers dying of infections from their wounds. 💟 Unfortunately, Florence contracted Crimean Fever. She became so ill, Florence was bedridden for most of her life. Due to becoming ill and bedridden, it was surmised Florence may have had Fibromyalgia or Chronic fatigue syndrome. Hence why May 12th was officially designated as fibromyalgia awareness day in 1990. 💟 Despite being bedridden, Florence Nightingale established the first medical school for Nursing. 💟 To honor her efforts, and recognize she had a chronic, lifelong illness, May 12th was designated as fibromyalgia awareness day, to honor Florence Nightingale‘s life long struggle with chronic illness, her efforts in revolutionizing nursing care and improving care for patients! |
